I have six digits for you: $240,000. They call it the “Special Edition.” Yes, it better be.
The specs to this very cheap Blackberry Curve 8900:
- 18-carat gold casing (bling bling)
- 4,459 brilliantly cut diamonds (bling bling… bling bling bling)
- 350 hours of craftsmanship
- Only THREE (so you better hurry) will be made
And to all you AT&T pawns: iPhone gets glam as well.

P.S. I don’t even want to ask my mom about this one, she already dislikes the fact that I’m on my BB messenger all the time — she’s constantly “YA!”ing me to get off.
reconnecting with: kristi yamaguchi
I learned two things things as a kid from Kristi Yamaguchi: 1) how to use a remote and, 2) how to receive the nastiest carpet burns by attempting to do a triple-fancy-jump-thing on dry land.
The instant she was on the television set I would run up, nose touching, eyes wide, and be in awe. My sisters pushing me out of the way, vice versa, parents yelling at us to be nice to each other. She brought that spirit of hope and wonderment in to the household, with such grace.
Excerpt from the announcers in the video footage above:
“Favored to win the gold again, the home town favorite of this crowd, 20 year-old, she’s the youngest of the three U.S. skaters [...] you talked about the clean program will win the gold medal here we have not seen that before, that is the strength of Kristi Yamaguchi. Her mother, Carol, who was born in an internment camp during World War 2, father spent time there as well. They have never expressed any bitterness about that experience only pride to be American. (*Yamaguchi enters the ice and crowd roars!*) And how proud they are as she comes home in an effort to redeem the gold medal.”
“A hero’s greeting for Kristi Yamaguchi,” the announcer declares at the end of her performance as she receives a standing ovation.
Back then, I was too young to realize all the fine details about her family and their courageous story — more importantly, a story in which they chose to grow from, without resentment, developing strength, pride, honor. That is truly a hero’s tale.
Makes you realize its never really the incident that matters, its what you make of it.
Kristi Yamaguchi isn’t quite done with giving and I hope we’re not done supporting her.
She started the Always Dream Foundation in 1996 with a continuing goal to find innovative ways of funding for a diverse range of programs designed to inspire and embrace the hopes and dreams of children and adolescents. This Summer of ’09, construction has began on her latest project: the Always Dream Play Park.
- “The goal of the design is to create a play area for children of all abilities that allows for physical as well as mental development through a diversity of play experiences, and is also a gathering place for the entire community. The design also aims to incorporate natural elements and provide an engaging, interactive environment.”
- The Always Dream Foundation invites interested corporations and individuals to support the construction of this enduring legacy for the children of the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Foundation COO, Jim Adler at 510-451-7275 | Email: jim@alwaysdream.org

Construction management services will be provided on a pro bono basis by Swinerton Builders. The Playground is being designed by (MIG) Moore, Iacofano & Goltsman, an internationally renowned design and planning firm.
[ALWAYS DREAM]
Earlier today, a friend of mine asked for a list of my top 20 favorite things. This would probably top that list. Nearly 17 years later and I’m still learning from one of America’s greatest performers.
P.S. Omma recalls, “Around the time you were 4, we were going to send you away to become a professional figure skater. But when you found out that training was away from home, you cried like a baby and said no.” I was 4, you shoulda shoved me on the first bus out.
google japan pokes fun
The Japanese. They really outdid themselves with this one.
Google has been under some scrutiny for their “street view” option on Google Maps, more so in Japan — calling it an “invasion of privacy.” Privacy and Google… well that’s like salt and pepper. They apparently counteract (a lot) but we tend to accept it, because it spices things up.
So, to calm nerves or suspicion on the street view option, Google Japan created this short film to make everyone see the steps and precautions they take in developing these views. In any case, it seems to have done the trick. Or has it? We’ll see what happens overseas, but from the YouTube comments (cause those always speak the truth) everyone has forgotten the moral of the story and is now fixated on these cute little animations.
Google Japan has also agreed to retake a whole area of photos after complaints came in that the camera peered over private fences. So they are now re-snapping their database, with of course a lowered camera. Those poor little camera headed wooden guys.
But really, how can you not smile at the cute little basket on the car catching the film shots (they should have attached streamers). Or the little blue guy that stayed up late, just for you and your mailbox address.
P.S. Omma says, “Google? What is a Google? Where did the Japanese come up with such an odd name?”
the swift west mini mix
Quite a ruckus Kanye West has caused.
With all said and done, opinions blasted over sets, we unite in the understanding that what he did was wrong. Yet, the beauty that came from it in Beyonce’s graceful allowance to Taylor Swift was such a magnificent testament to our society — one of good hearts.
Jay Leno goes to ask Kanye, “What would your mother think if she saw that?” When I heard that question it made me wonder, “What would I do if Kanye West was my actual blood brother?” Would I disown him over this? Probably not. Is it unforgivable?
This mini mix has a special place in my heart for many reasons, the top 2:
1 — DJ Buddy stepped out of his comfort zone, gave country music a chance, and mixed a beautiful union between two opposites.
2 — We forgot the most important message at the VMAs which was during Madonna’s speech: she spoke of the mistakes we made together, when we turned our backs on another human being.
I hope you all can see the beauty in this mix, the reason behind making it a union, rather than a battle, and the selective choices in the title.
Excerpts from Madonna’s tribute to Michael Jackson at the VMAs:
All I could think about in this moment was, “I had abandoned him.” That we had abandoned him. That we had allowed this magnificent creature who had once set the world on fire to somehow slip through the cracks. While he was trying to build a family and rebuild his career, we were all passing judgement. Most of us had turned our backs on him.
But he was also a human being, and alas we are all human beings and sometimes we have to lose things before we can appreciate them.

if i were akon
If I were Akon — well… I guess I’d want to make love right na na na. But, after that, I’d get this guy in the studio and I’d be working on a major remix of the song, Beautiful.
Listen to Jason Yang’s electric violin cover. Hope your hearts skip a beat, like mine did.
[Visit his YouTube channel]
P.S. I’d date this guy off his shoe collection alone. My mom says she’d date him because he can play the violin. Of course.
thebeginning
And so I’m literally back to the drawing board.
I’m not too sure what exactly theyoungestkim.com is going to provide. Until now, I’ve focused on the dreams of others so much and helping them that I forgot my own and often times put family last. But I am learning though. As we all are. And with that comes the start of it all — this entire site I dedicate to my mom and my dad, as it is snugly wrapped by the passions of their youngest daughter.
So as I sit in front of this monitor watching the cursor smooth right while printing my thoughts, I notice immediately a soft change in my writing from what it was years ago, with no excessive … or ?!?! which probably means one thing: I am comfortable now.
About two weeks ago I took the first step, by purchasing the domain name and setting up my accounts on the oh so many blog sites out there. When I first started writing, Xanga was barely making way. Taking the second step, took a lot of idea juggling as I tried to zoom in on what exactly it is I hoped to share with you here. It was especially hard to figure out what to open with or how to make the best grand (why did I say that with a rolling “r” just now?) entry for this site.
Then I got these headphones in the mail. Put them on, and started to write. Suiting it is then, that my very first post goes back to the roots of where a lot me has found peace: in my own skin, in my own written words.
Stay tuned for updates and honestly… who knows what. At this point, this is just the beginning. And it feels good.
Cheers,
Min Jung
P.S. Omma (Mom) walked in and hollered, “those headphones aren’t too pretty, why didn’t you get the small cute lady-like ones?” Because Omma, you named me after a boy. I’m rebelling.
